Summary

Starting in version 1.5.0, navigation fails completely whenever Tally is launched as an installed PWA. While route navigation works normally when accessing Tally directly through a browser window, installed standalone PWA instances (iOS, Android, and Desktop) do not respond to navigation actions.

Observed vs Expected Behavior

  • Expected: Installed PWA navigation should match standard web app routing and behavior.
  • Observed: In-app navigation triggers (tabs, buttons, route updates) fail to execute when running in installed standalone PWA mode.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Open the Tally web app (v1.5.0) directly in a web browser.
  2. Confirm route navigation functions properly within the browser.
  3. Install Tally as a PWA ("Add to Home Screen" / "Install App").
  4. Launch the installed PWA instance.
  5. Attempt to navigate between views or tabs.

Technical Context & Workaround

  • Workaround: Advise users to access Tally via standard web browser tabs rather than launching the installed PWA.
  • Scope for Investigation:
    • Check Flutter / web router history strategy (usePathUrlStrategy vs hash mode).
    • Inspect Service Worker route caching/interception behavior added or modified in 1.5.0.
    • Check display mode (display: standalone) window context or lifecycle listener changes between browser vs. PWA scope.
